The UK’s top 40 fastest-selling albums of the century has been announced by Official Charts.

Measured by vinyl sales during the first week of release, the number one record is Arctic Monkeys’ 2018 album Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino, which sold 24,500 records in its first week. The Sheffield band’s recent live album — Live at the Royal Albert Hall — also made the list, in sixth place.

Lana Del Rey also set a record for the fastest-selling record by a female artist, with her new album Chemtrails Over The Country Club selling 16,700 units.

Other artists who made the list include Idles, David Bowie, Kylie Minogue, and Radiohead.

The list also reflect the growth of vinyl sales, and follow’s the British Phonographic Industry’s recent projection that spending on vinyl in 2021 will surpass CDs for the first time since 1987.
